Elections Committee Nominating Process 2017 Elections
Policies and Qualifications:
Nomination of IBRBS voting members for election to the Board of Directors are being solicited by the Elections Committee. All nominations shall be submitted to the Committee by Tuesday, November 15, 2016. All nominations must use the form approved by the Committee and available by download from the link at the bottom of this page. The form is in PDF format.
Six (6) Director Positions are open for election in February 2017. Nominees must have been a member for at least two (2) full fiscal years prior to the February election (Oct 1st to Sept 30th).
An Elected Director's term of office is three years. A Director is expected to participate in our SKYPE Board meetings, normally on the second Wednesday of each month. They will vote on all Board decisions. Directors are also asked to attend an annual face-to-face retreat to get to know each other, and thus work together for the best interests of IBRBS. Travel and lodging expenses are supplemented for the retreat.
A Director may be asked to serve on one of our Standing Committees and/or accept an Officer position. More information on Directors and Officers can be found in our Bylaws available on the member's Dashboard.
To be considered, a nominee must complete the nomination form, be endorsed by at least five (5) current voting members, submit a head-shot of themselves in character, and a current, verifiable background check clear of any criminal reference. The nominee will be required to sign the IBRBS Code of Ethics and Conflict of Interest policies.
A nominee must also submit a personal statement of 300 to 500 words in length, detailing their experience, background, and any appropriate qualifications.
The Committee shall verify all information received and submit its recommended ballot to the Board of Directors for the January 2017 Board meeting.
Voting starts Wednesday, February 1, 2017. It will end at 8:00 PM, February 15, 2017. An electronic voting system will be used. Each current, voting member, as of January 31, 2017, will receive an email with a link to our election system. However, a member may choose to receive and return their ballot by the US Postal Service. Valid ballots must be electronically dated or postmarked no later than February 15, 2017.
A IBRBS member can vote for up to six candidates on the ballot in this election, but only one vote per candidate. The six candidates receiving the highest number of votes, up to the number of open Director positions, shall be considered elected. In case of a tie for the last open Director position, a runoff vote will be conducted and completed by March 1st.
Newly elected Directors shall be seated at the March Board Meeting of each year and subsequently announced to the Membership.
For the Candidate — Your statement should address some of these questions:
- What experiences or training would you bring to IBRBS as a Director?
- What ideas or suggestions would you contribute for our growth and development?
- What benefits do you think we could add for our members?
- What administrative or financial experience do you have?
- How have you participated in and contributed to IBRBS and/or a local Chapter in the past?
- What is your vision for the future of IBRBS?
Once you are verified by the Elections Committee you will be contacted for a ballot statement that will be part of the members electronic ballot brochure and a full page on our website, including your photograph.
The Elections Committee has decided that campaigning of any kind through the IBRBS Facebook page, any public social media, or any private access media will not be acceptable. Any candidate may be disqualified by the Election Committee for such activity.
